Zewenwacht Chef School Competition

Are you in grade 11 or 12 and have a keen interest in becoming a chef? If you answered Yes…then why not enter the Zewenwacht Chef School Competition...

Jan Schutter- organiser of competition that is currently underway- and chef at the school- joined us today to speak about the competition which is open to all high school kids (grades 11 and 12) in the Western Cape.

Entrants from different schools in all areas of the province have already started battling it out in the kitchen with the preparation of dishes.

Just to get you even more excited, some of the prizes to be won include- a one year scholarship at the Zewenwacht Chef School, you'll also get the opportunity to cook with and shadow top chef Brian Turner at the Good Food and Wine show set to take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).

The final will be held on 15 May 2008 at the CTICC. Time is running out to enter…

Prevention of Substance Abuse Bill

Do you know what the Prevention of Substance Abuse Bill is? We spoke to Advocate Michael Masutha who explained to us the objectives of this Bill

The objectives are to:

  • Provide for a coordinated effort to combat substance abuse
  • Provide for the conditions for registration of all programmes, including those in treatment centres and halfway houses
  • Provide for the conditions and procedures for the admission of persons to treatment centres and the release of persons from treatment centres
  • Provide for early intervention, treatment and reintegration programmes for vulnerable persons; and
  • Establish a Central Drug Authority, whose powers and duties are to monitor and oversee the implementation of the National Drug Master Plan.
