Celebration of the life of Alex van Heerden
Today on Backchat we were joined on the line by Tracey Randle who is a full-time historian and someone who has been working very closely with the late Alex van Heerden on a music project. A concert will be held tomorrow in Celebration of the life of Alex van Heerden who has passed away recently. Alex has been playing professionally since the year 1992, with the likes of Robbie Jansen, Mac McKenzie and Hilton Schilder. Alex has been inspired by the work of David Kramer. In October 2007, he joined the Solms-Delta team, to be involved in exploring and preserving the musical heritage of the Cape. Alex passed away tragically on Wednesday the 7th of January. Tomorrow’s concert will pay tribute to the great musician Alex was. The concert will take place from 3-6pm at the Solms-Delta wine farm in Franschhoek. Expect several musicians to perform at the event.
