OG BANK$

On Wednesday March 8 2023 Back Chat welcomed motivated and determined singer, rapper and song writer OG BANK$. Presented by Thomas Cedrick, he was able to get to know more about the Congolese artist and how the young artist separates himself from the rest of the crowd.

After the release of his debut music video for his recent track "Liar" OG BANK$ took the opportunity to present himself to the rest of Cape Town during the interview, diving deep into his upbringing and how he discovered music to be his passion and journey that he decided to venture on.

"The love for music started.. The first time I watched T.V man...And in Congo we don't have Dstv" Said the young Congolese artist. He mentioned in the interview that there are specific channels on T.V that would broadcast music videos and this is where he discovered that music is the career he wishes to pursue. Although he and his parents are from two different worlds growing up in a Jehovah's Witness household, his parents weren't convinced that music should be the direction their son should move towards. He also mentions that his father was in love with musical melodies contributing to OG Bank$' passion and drive for music. "My Father is a Christian...I've seen my father love melodies, falling in love with the messages, that's how I learned Lingala, because especially it was most Lingala songs...That's when I started to listen to so many music (songs) like that, and I became part of it as well." 

He passionately explains that his parents would rather have him follow in their footsteps and continue to lead the life of Christianity. He said that if something is not your passion, it's not you and that your passion must come naturally to you. OG BANK$ has yet to show the world what he has in store including the hundreds of unreleased music he has in the vault. There is no doubt that he plans to dominate the music industry many years to come. His laid back trap R&B vibe will get you hooked in an instant soon enough he will find his way into your playlist.

For many young musicians it can be hard to find your audience or to attract an audience in general. For OG BANK$ to take the initiative and present himself to the station to push his music, he took the ultimate step to tell us who he is and what his music is about. All it takes is one move to get noticed and that is to put yourself out there and literally put your foot in the door of Bush Radio 89.5 FM.
