Out in Africa Film Festival

We opened the show with Nodi Murphy, director of the Out in Africa Gay and Lesbian Film Festival.
This is the 14th annual Film Festival. The Films are aimed at everyone and promises to cater for everyone.
“We know that if we do not see ourselves, if others cannot see us, then we do not exist. In our choice of films we are ever-mindful of the issues and challenges that faces as individuals and as community…” says Murphy.

The Festival will take place at Nu-Metro cinema - V&A Waterfront from 12-18 November 2007. Tickets for the shows are R25.

‘Not Even Once’ Campaign

We were then joined by Rob Peters from the ‘Not Even Once’ Campaign.
The aim of the campaign is to inform the youth about the dangers of substance abuse.

Some of the activities at the event includes: surfing and skating competitions. Top South African bands will also take to the stage.

Throughout the events members of the Drug Education Agency will be educating the youth and community on the issue of substance abuse in an informative and exciting way.

‘It’s Just Not Fez’

We were later joined in studio by Lionel Newton and Abduragmaan Adams.

‘It's Fezzy. It's Fizzy. And it's very very funny! Lionel Newton and Abduragmaan Adams have joined comedic forces to bring audiences a hilarious treat this festive season with It's Just Not Fez, a theatrical smorgasbord where cultures clash with hysterical results. It runs at the Sanlam Studio from 5 December 2007 to 5 January 2008. ‘Its Just Not Fez’ is directed by multi-award winning director, Lara Foot Newton.’

Stargaze at the Baxter

We ended the show with Rebecca Meyer from Dance For All. They will be having their annual gala benefit: Stargaze at the Baxter on Sunday 18 November 2007 at 18h30.
‘Dance for All, directed by Philip Boyd and Phyllis Spira, will present their annual gala benefit Stargaze at the Baxter Theatre on Sunday 18th November at 7:30pm. The performance, preceded by drinks and snacks at 6:30pm in the theatre foyer, will include dancers of all ages from the organisation's various community and outreach programmes, and the professional Dance for All Youth Company (DFAYC) with a guest appearance by dancers from Cape Town City Ballet. ‘
