Balvenie Primary School
We opened the show with Emmy Fortuin and Lynette Schoor from Balvenie Primary School. The school is situated in the Elsies River area. There are 600 children at the school.
“The pupils of Balvenie Primary School in Elsies River are in desperate need of clothes for the 2003 school year. These kids are forced to go to school with tattered clothes and shoes, and because of this, some pupils choose not to attend. The school's fund is not sufficient to provide assistance and therefore they're calling on other schools and the public for help.”

Diabetes- Good Foot Care
Keeping with the theme of Diabetes, we also spoke to Dr Martin Forlee a General and Vascular surgeon.
“Every 30 seconds, somewhere in the world, a person loses a limb or part of a limb because of diabetes. Most of these amputations start with a foot ulcer. Foot ulcers and ultimately, amputations are preventable through early identification, good foot care and meticulous diabetic control,” says Dr Forlee.
