CALTA Transport Company
Today we opened the show with Nazeem Abdurahman the owner of CALTA Transport Company. The company specialises in commuter transport by means of taxis.
The Company was started in 1988, and will be celebrating their 20th anniversary next year. They work on routes within the Mitchells Plain area.
He spoke to us about the stigmas surrounding taxi drivers as well as the code of conduct that he carries out at his company, should any of his employees step out of line.

Grassroots Educare Trust
We were then joined by Mareldia Tape of the Grassroots Educare Trust.
Grassroots runs an adult education programme in pre-school training for both beginners and managers.
They run an anti-waste programme as well that utilises waste materials for improvised equipment and toys. Information on using anti-waste material in pre-schools is readily available. The shop sells pre-school toys and equipment.
“Grassroots is committed to the education and care of pre-school children, which serves as the cornerstone of a people’s education.”

Mitchells Plain Twilight Team Challenge
During the second half of the show we were joined by Clint Dixon, Managing Director at the Mitchells Plain Development Agency who spoke about their Mitchells Plain Twilight Team Run Challenge.
They are attempting to take the 2007 Community Chest floating trophy for the most number of teams entered and they need your help.
“We would like to consolidate all teams from Mitchells Plain under Proudly Mitchells Plain and all those interested parties are invited to join us and bring the 2007 trophy to Mitchells Plain,” says Dixon.
