Diabetes South Africa

Today we spoke to Margot McCumisky from Diabetes South Africa. We spoke about types of diabetes, e.g. type 1 that occurs when the pancreas stops producing insulin. It normally starts in young people under the age of 30 and that include very young children and infants. Type 2 diabetes is caused when the insulin is either not enough or does not function properly. For more information you can call Margot McCumisky on 021 425 4640.

We then spoke to Andrew Wheeldon from Bicycle Empowerment Network (BEN). It was established in Cape Town in February 2002, the main aim is to alleviate poverty through the promotion of the use of bicycle. BEN has issued a petition for bicycle lanes across Cape Town and beyond. For more information you can call 021 685 7144.
