Cart Horse Association
Today we spoke to Dee Tablanche from Cart Horse Association. We have heard that in the early 1900's, the horse and cart as a means of transport and income generation was an integral part of life for many previously disadvantaged communities living in Cape Town. The carting industry has been passed down from generation to generation. Originally cart horses were used to sell fruit, vegetables and fish on the streets of Cape Town. Today the collection of scrap metal for many communities living on the Cape Flats is the only means of generating an income. For more information you can call Cart Horse Association on 021 535 3435.
We then spoke to Martin Offord an English pianist from North Yorkshire (UK). Cape Town is soon to have the rare chance of hearing all 12 pieces of Albeniz's great cycle “Iberia” presented by Offord. He is to play this at the Baxter Concert Hall on Saturday 12 April 2008. For more information you can call 021 434 4951.
