Nigerian-born singer, songwriter and rapper Dr. Ray, now based in Cape Town, is making his mark on the African music scene with music that blends entertainment, personal experience and meaningful social messages.
Speaking on Bush Radio 89.5 FM, Dr. Ray shared his journey, creative vision and passion for using music to inspire people and highlight the experiences of Africans.
His music span's different themes and sounds. His single “Fireworks” brings an energetic, celebratory vibe, while “Watermelon” is a heartfelt appreciation of women. Another important release, “Immigration,” reflects on the challenges many Africans face when seeking better opportunities abroad and calls for a stronger, more developed Africa.
For Dr. Ray, consistency is key. He continues to release music while working on his upcoming album, Beautiful Moments, which he hopes will provide listeners with music to enjoy and celebrate during the festive season.
Beyond music, Dr. Ray also explores comedy and uses his platforms to connect with audiences in different ways. Inspired by artists such as Burna Boy, he hopes to collaborate with leading names in the African music industry.
Ultimately, Dr. Ray wants his music to leave a lasting legacy—one built on love, positive values, unity and a desire to make society better.
