Empowering Learners Through Free Maths Revision Workshops in Cape Town
Education remains one of the most powerful tools for transforming communities, and initiatives that support learners especially in critical subjects like Mathematics are essential. Recently on Backchite on Bush Radio 89.5 FM, we spoke to Hasania Abaduri about an impactful programme offering free mathematics revision workshops for Grade 10 and 11 learners in Cape Town.
These workshops are a joint initiative between the National OCA Foundation and the Department of Basic Education, alongside a network of local schools. For the past few years, the programme has supported learners preparing for examinations by providing structured, high-quality revision sessions.
Participating schools include:
Spine Road High School (Mitchells Plain)
Portland High School (Mitchells Plain)
Luhlaza High School (Khayelitsha)
The National OCA Foundation’s broader mission is to empower communities through education, health programmes, and community upliftment initiatives making these maths workshops just one part of a holistic approach to development.
The workshops are designed to help learners prepare effectively for upcoming exams, particularly the June assessments. Sessions are intensive and exam-focused, drawing on years of experience to highlight commonly tested problem types.
