READ A BOOK A DAY!

Celebrating International Literacy Day, Backchat had students from different schools reading aloud in their mother tongue. All of them coming from different backgrounds but what they love is reading. Yellowood Primary School's Chadwin B arnes read uitstekend in afrikaans and Aaliyah Hoosen read beautifully in English. We had two English Imperial Primary School students, reading with expression and fluently. Zonnebloem High Schools Mbali Dlamini stole us with her diction and confidence with reading in Xhosa.

For these young people reading is their way of staying away from the social ills we all are exposed to. Having different programs at school namely spelling bee's and reading competitions, keeping them loving their books even more.

As generations changed the love and passion for reading has more importance in life. We see our kids visiting the library and taking home books and entering different competitions where as reading will always be the homework.
