August is being
celebrated nationally as Women’s Month; we started this celebration by
speaking to Di Olivier a trustee of The Black Sash. The Black Sash has been
working "towards making human rights real" for 6 decades. This year they will be
celebrating their 60th anniversary at the Artscape Women’s Humanity
Arts Festival 2015 with a photo exhibition and launch of their latest publication by author and
long-time Black Sash member, Mary Burton. For more info rmation on The
Black Sash you can go to http://www.blacksash.org.za/.
The Kensington girls’ choir came to share their talent with us. They will be leaving on a tour to Switzerland in October
2015. For more info rmation you can contact Lizl
Gaffley on 076 026 2512.
We also spoke to author Ntsiki Siege about her book, A Broken Wing. This book is a true story
about her journey going through a divorce and having to raise her 3 children.
She also addresses the guilt that one carries when going through divorce and not
dealing with one's feelings. This an encouragement to overcome life’s
adversities. For more info rmation you can email Ntsiki at ntsiki42@gmail.com.
