Today on Backchat we spoke to Chris O’ Connor. The Mayoral Committee approved a performing arts and development programme that will be sure street kids and youth at risk. Chris is the manager of the Projects, Strategy and Support. The street kids will be trained by the Zip Zap Circus School, Dance for All, Ikapa Dance Theatre Productions, Tercia Kindo Arts, Jikeleza Dance Project, Cape Dance Company and the Athlone Academy of Music who will be working in collaboration with the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra. The programme has also generated interest for programmes in the near future from many other organisations. The street kids will perform in an orchestra using discarded material. For further information you may contact Mr. O’ Connor on 021 400 9501.
Today on the show we also celebrated World Aids Day. We played recorded interviews with guests who have joined us in the past and spoke about their organisations and what they are doing to combat HIV/Aids.
